A lot of customers assume tint is just about darkness and privacy. Ceramic tint is a different category of film, and the difference shows up the first hot day you get in the car.
Heat rejection is the real story
3M ceramic film uses nano-ceramic particles instead of dye or metal to block heat. That means it rejects a significant amount of solar heat and infrared radiation without needing to go darker - your cabin stays cooler even with a lighter shade.
No signal interference
Older metallic tint films could interfere with GPS, radio, and cell signal. Ceramic film doesn't contain metal, so it won't cause the dropped signal or navigation issues that metallic film sometimes did.
It doesn't fade or turn purple
Dyed tint breaks down over time - fading, bubbling, or turning purple in California sun. Ceramic film is built to resist that breakdown, which is why 3M backs it with a strong warranty.
